I am an out-of-network provider

As with everything in life, there are pros and cons in contracting with insurance companies.  When a provider contracts with your insurance, there are rules and regulations placed on the work that can be done and the timeline in which it can be done.

While this is a great general rule of thumb, it is also very limiting.  It does not allow for you to get the best care possible and to have your treatment tailored specifically to you. This is the main reason I have chosen not to contract with insurances.

You can still get the support of your insurance!

If you have out-of-network coverage for mental health services, you are eligible for reimbursement! While I cannot guarantee that you will get reimbursed, I do provide you with a special receipt called a superbill.

You can then give the superbill to your insurance company and they will be able to reimburse you a portion of your investment.

The Good Faith Estimate

Under the law, health care providers need to give clients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the expected charges for medical services, including psychotherapy services.

You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency healthcare services, including psychotherapy services.

You can ask your health care provider, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule a service, or at any time during treatment.

If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill. Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate.

For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, or how to dispute a bill, see your Estimate, or visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises
